How it works

Four simple steps from a missed call to a clearer decision. No account needed to search.

  1. Step 1

    Search a UK phone number

Type any UK mobile, landline or non-geographic number. Formats such as 07412 123456, +44 and 0044 all work. You do not choose a country — this service is UK-only.

  2. Step 2

    We tidy the number

We normalise it to a standard UK form so searches, reports and risk all attach to the same number, even if people typed it differently.

  3. Step 3

    See what others report

If people have published reports, you will see a risk score, categories such as scam or nuisance, recent comments, and simple number facts such as type and prefix.

  4. Step 4

    Make an informed decision

Use that information to decide whether to answer, block or report the call. Check unexpected calls through official channels. No reports does not mean a number is safe. Caller ID can be spoofed.

What the risk score means

The score is an internal WhoCalledMe measure from 0 to 100. It is based on community reports and other number information we hold. Typical bands:

  • 0–24 Low — few or no concerning reports
  • 25–49 Unclear — mixed or limited information
  • 50–74 Nuisance — a pattern of unwanted calls
  • 75–100 High risk — several reports of suspected scam or harmful activity

A high score does not mean “this person is a scammer”. It means users have reported this number as suspicious. Caller ID can be spoofed, so the number on the screen may not be the true source of the call.

If there are no reports

That only means nobody has published a report yet. It could be a new number, a personal number, or a number that has not been searched much. It is not a green light.

Help the next person

If you received the call, a short, factual report helps everyone. Say what the caller claimed, without sharing personal details.
